With these two experiments we have barely scratched the surface of bacterial genetics. There are many more interesting and exciting experiments that can be done in microbial DNA manipulations. We understand more about the genomes and behavior of microbes than any other creatures, and this is in part due to the sophisticated techniques and powerful experiments that can be done with bacterial genetics and molecular biology. Hopefully these experiments have given you a small appreciation for this field.
